A woman lost her life two days before Christmas when she was involved in a tragic accident. She was a passenger in the car that crashed.
According to reports, the incident happened around 1:50 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2018. A 35-year-old man was behind the wheel of an Infiniti QX56, which is a luxury vehicle. In the passenger seat was a woman whose age was not reported. They have different last names and the relationship between the two is unclear.
In any case, the police say that the man lost control of the Infiniti. It left the roadway and slammed into “multiple trees” that ran along Abercorn Street. This was on the shoulder, on the east side of the street. Eventually, the car overturned and came to a stop.
Emergency crews responded to the accident and found both the driver and his passenger with serious injuries. They brought them both to nearby hospitals for treatment, but the woman passed away at the medical center.
As such, an investigation is now being carried out by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Savannah Police Department.
Pictures from the scene show the car sitting back up on its wheels, but it is completely wrecked to the point that it’s nearly unrecognizable. The front end and windshield are smashed in. The doors sit open. Debris lies all over the street in front of the car, including a tire that was apparently torn from the vehicle at some point during the violent accident.
An incident like this, especially around the holidays, really shows how dangerous the roads are and how every decision can have a drastic impact on a person’s life and their family’s future. It’s important for the family members of those who pass away in accidents to know what rights they have to compensation.
